Sharon Pruss, L.Ac., is an Acupuncturist, licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Medicine. She was previously a Doctor of Acupuncture in Rhode Island, and a Licensed Acupuncturist in California for many years. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Oriental Medicine from Samra University in LA, and did most of her training at Yo San University. She specializes in women’s health, oncology support, and pain. Her post-graduate training includes the treatment of chronic eye disease, infertility, nutrition, functional medicine, oncology support, and cosmetic acupuncture. Her work as a Clinical Research Coordinator in the Endocrinology/Bone Disease Program at the John Wayne Cancer Institute provided Sharon with the experience of working within the western medical model of treating cancer.
In my twenty-two years of practice, I have helped many people heal from chronic disease, assisted couples with natural fertility as well as with IVF support, helped many to live free of pain, and treated everything from digestive complaints, PCOS, anxiety, thyroid disease, chronic eye disease, neurological and autoimmune issues. I would have to say that patients with the most complex issues find me, and in most cases, I am able to help.
So what makes me unique?
First, in California, where I initially practiced, Acupuncturists are considered “primary care”. This expanded scope of practice allowed me to order imaging, work within the Worker’s Comp system as a primary provider, and lead to wider access and communication with others in the healthcare system.
I also have many years of training in Functional Medicine, with some of the world’s leading experts, and offered Functional Medicine with my CA patients. Here, in addition to acupuncture, moxa, cupping, red light therapy, etc., I integrate the principles of Functional Nutrition in my practice. This is my value added! I am looking at root cause, and using food, supplements, and lifestyle changes to catalyze change and improve symptoms. I have found that this two-prong approach provides the best of both worlds for my patients.
I am a perpetual student and watch a minimum of several hours of health webinars each day. I am otherwise immersed in post graduate trainings on a constant basis. My patients will tell you that I am constantly sharing what I’ve learned to help them.
